Grants announced July 20th:

American Red Cross - Vermont Chapter awarded $25,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The American Red Cross provides shelter, food, disaster coordination, and up-to-date information during emergencies. Statewide

Association of Africans Living in Vermont (AALV) awarded $5,000 to help the New Farms for New Americans gardening program recover from major storm and flooding losses. AALV helps new Americans from all parts of the world gain independence. Chittenden County

Barre Partnership awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief. The Barre Partnership is the "Granite City's" downtown organization. It produces events designed to build community throughout the year and is serving as a community hub during flood response. Washington County

Black River Good Neighbor awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. Through a thrift store, food pantry, and free services, BRGN works to empower those in Ludlow and surrounding areas who are under-served in the community. Windsor County

BROC - Community Action in Southwestern Vermont awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief. BROC provides anti-poverty programming and resources to residents in Bennington and Rutland Counties. It is providing food, shelter, necessities and clothing to flood victims. Rutland County

Cabot Community Association awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. It works with community members and community organizations to enhance the educational and recreational opportunities in Cabot and support a strong local economy. Caledonia County

Capstone Community Action awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief. It supports resilient households and communities to advance justice in social, economic, and environmental policy, and empowers individuals to move beyond poverty. CCA is playing a critical role in flood recovery in Central Vermont. Washington County

Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE) awarded $25,000 to support the Vermont Farm Fund to help farms recovering from storm and flooding losses. CAE works in Hardwick and the surrounding area supporting local farmers and providing access to high-quality foods. Statewide

Central Vermont Council on Aging awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. CVCA is the Area Agency on Aging for Central Vermont, helping older adults to live at home, stay healthy, and be active. It leads the Meals on Wheels program in their area. Washington County

Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief. It addresses economic, social, racial, and environmental justice. It provides crisis support, including food, fuel, and housing assistance, along with education and training for future economic independence. Chittenden County

The Civic Standard awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. A community organizing hub for Hardwick and the surrounding area, the Civic Standard is working with a coalition of organizations and individuals to get residents the relief they need. Caledonia County

Hack Club awarded $15,000 to support match funding to local storm and flooding relief efforts. The Vermont Community Foundation will match the first $500 in donations to crowdsourced flood relief efforts launched through the Shelburne-based Hack Club,which facilitates mutual aid projects by offering fiscal sponsorship and a web-based donation and spending platform to support neighbors helping neighbors. Statewide

Hardwick Area Food Pantry awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. The Pantry provides quality food for people in need with locations in Hardwick, Albany, and Craftsbury. Caledonia County

Intervale Center awarded $10,000 to support the Farmer Relief Fund to help farms recovering from storm and flooding losses. The Intervale Center in Burlington works to foster a local food economy that is good for people and the planet. Statewide

Jenna's Promise awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. Jenna's Promise works to create a network of support that will help people suffering from substance use disorder. It works to open doors and remove barriers for people seeking treatment, ensuring healthy and sustaining patient recovery. Lamoille County

Main Street Flood Recovery Fund awarded $25,000. The Vermont Main Street Flood Relief Fund is dedicated to providing direct financial aid to Vermont small businesses for the purpose of rebuilding and recovering from damage and losses suffered due to the recent flooding. Statewide

Montpelier Strong Recovery Fund awarded $50,000. Through the Monptelier Strong Recovery Fund, the Montpelier Foundation will help local businesses rebuild and recover. Washington County

Neighborhood Connections awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. Neighborhood Connections promotes the health and well-being of people in Southern Vermont's mountain towns. It is leading coordination of flood response and recovery resources and providing community meals. Windham County

Northeast Kingdom Community Action awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief. NEKCA is an anti-poverty agency providing direct programs, referrals, advocacy, and education to the communities of the Northeast Kingdom. Orleans County

Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. NEKCA is the Area Agency on Aging for the Northeast Kingdom, helping older adults to live at home, stay healthy, and be active. It leads the Meals on Wheels program in their area. Caledonia County

Northeast Kingdom Organizing (NEKO) awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief. Northeast Kingdom Organizing (NEKO) is a member-led coalition of individuals, families, and faith- and community-based organizations that come together to organize and advocate for justice for the people and places of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Orleans County

Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT) awarded $10,000 to support the Farmer Emergency Relief Fund to help farms recovering from storm and flooding losses. NOFA-VT supports a statewide association of organic farms and provides direct aid to farmers impacted by the floods. Statewide

Out in the Open awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. Out in the Open connects LGBTQ+ people to build community, visibility, knowledge and power. Windham County

Rainbow Bridge Community Center awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. Rainbow Bridge Community Center is a Barre-based, all volunteer organization supporting LGBTQIA2S+ people in central Vermont. It is providing resources, support, and connection to those affected by the floods. Washington County

Senior Solutions awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. Senior Solutions is the Area Agency on Aging for the southeastern corner of Vermont, helping older adults to live at home, stay healthy, and be active. It leads the Meals on Wheels program in their area. Windsor County

Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief. SVCA is the Area Agency on Aging for the southwestern corner of Vermont, helping older adults to live at home, stay healthy, and be active. It leads the Meals on Wheels program in their area. Rutland County

Vermont Professionals of Color Network (VTPOC) awarded $5,000 for outreach and response to support VTPOC members recovering from storm and flooding losses. The Vermont Professionals of Color Network is the state’s leading organization supporting the professional, networking, and business needs of BIPOC Vermonters. VTPOC Network is conducting outreach and offering technical assistance to individual and business members in flood affected areas of the state. Statewide

Woodstock Community Trust awarded $5,000 to support the work of the Woodstock Hub. The Woodstock Community Trust is a non-profit umbrella organization that empowers teams to carry out local projects to improve the quality of life and respond to needs in their community. Windsor County

In addition to grants listed above, the VT Flood Response & Recovery Fund 2023 is supporting storm and flood-related requests through the Foundation’s Special and Urgent Needs (SUN) grant program. SUN has temporarily modified its guidelines to support urgent nonprofit needs related to this disaster. Grants Announced July 27th:

Another Way awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. It operates a drop-in center in Montpelier and provides voluntary, peer-run alternatives to people who avoid conventional mental health services. Washington County

Barre Community Relief Fund awarded $25,000. The Fund was established to help raise money for assistance in flood recovery and rebuilding in the Barre area. Washington County

BROC - Community Action in Southwestern Vermont awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. BROC provides anti-poverty programming and resources to residents in Bennington and Rutland Counties. It is providing food, shelter, necessities, and clothing to flood victims. Bennington & Rutland Counties

Capstone Community Action awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Capstone supports resilient households and communities while empowering individuals to move beyond poverty. The organization is playing a critical role in flood recovery in Central Vermont. Statewide

CCTV's Center for Media & Democracy awarded $15,000 to support the development and translation of storm and flood relief videos for Vermont’s refugee, migrant, and immigrant communities. The Vermont Language Justice Project allows people with language access needs the ability to make informed decisions about their health and those of their families by providing public service videos and audio files in 17 languages spoken in Vermont. Statewide

Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE) awarded $15,000 to support food sovereignty efforts in Hardwick and the Northeast Kingdom as part of storm and flood relief. CAE works in Hardwick and the surrounding area to support local farmers and provide access to high-quality food. Statewide

Central Vermont Council on Aging awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Council is the Area Agency on Aging for Central Vermont, helping older adults to live at home, stay healthy, and be active. It leads the Meals on Wheels program in the area. Lamoille, Orange, and Washington Counties

Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) awarded $20,000 to support the immediate and on-going needs of displaced mobile home park residents and $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity addresses economic, social, racial, and environmental justice. Statewide

Chester Helping Hands awarded $8,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Chester Helping Hands is a non-profit organization created to provide food assistance and spread kindness to its neighbors in the greater Chester area of Vermont. Windsor County

Chester-Andover Family Center awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Center makes a difference in its community by providing resources for financial assistance, food, affordable clothing, and household goods. Windsor County

Circle, Inc. awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Circle serves anyone experiencing partner violence in the Washington County area. It provides shelter, advocacy, and support for people experiencing abusive situations. Washington County

City of Montpelier Parks & Recreation Department awarded $10,000 to support the Montpelier FEAST Farm. Montpelier Parks and Trees stewards Montpelier's parks, trees, and natural spaces for the enjoyment and health of all. Washington County

Cooperation Vermont awarded $10,000 to support immediate flood relief supply needs for community members, including cleaning supplies, generators, respirators, medical kits, food, water, and more. Cooperation Vermont is a social justice group in Marshfield that seeks to help workers from underrepresented groups create worker-owned co-ops. Washington County

Downstreet Housing and Community Development awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Downstreet develops and manages permanently affordable housing throughout central Vermont. Washington, Lamoille, & Orange Counties

Friends of the Winooski River awarded $7,500 to support cleanup efforts as part of storm and flood relief. The organization works to safeguard and enhance the natural resources of the Winooski River watershed. Washington County

Glover Ambulance Squad awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. It provides the community with professional emergency care and attention, in 2023 receiving the Vermont Ambulance Service of the Year Award from the Vermont Department of Health. Orleans County

Good Samaritan Haven awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Good Samaritan Haven provides emergency shelter, outreach services, and a food program to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Washington County

Green Mountain United Way awarded $20,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. United Way unites around the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community. Caledonia, Essex, Orleans, Orange, and Washington Counties

Greensboro Association awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Association develops and supports village initiatives and organizations that enhance the community. It also protects Caspian Lake and its surrounding environment. Orleans County

Health Care and Rehabilitation Services of Southeastern Vermont awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The organization is the designated mental health agency for Windsor and Windham counties, providing collaborative and compassionate behavioral, medical, and rehabilitative health care services to the community. Windsor and Windham Counties

Intervale Center awarded $15,000 to support gleaning and food access efforts as part of storm and flood relief. Through several programs, the Intervale Center works to foster a local food economy that is good for people and the planet. Chittenden County

Just Basics awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Just Basics addresses basic needs and social justice in Montpelier, and runs the Montpelier Food Pantry. Washington County

Kellogg-Hubbard Library awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier serves as the public library for six towns in central Vermont. Washington County

Lamoille Community House awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Lamoille Community House offers shelter, service, and hope to those experiencing homelessness. Lamoille County

Lamoille County Mental Health Services awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Lamoille County Mental Health Services is a designated mental health agency providing developmental and behavioral health services to the Lamoille Valley area, enhancing independence and quality of life. Lamoille County

Lamoille County Natural Resources Conservation District awarded $7,500 to support the Lamoille River Watershed Initiative's cleanup efforts as part of storm and flood relief. Lamoille County

Lamoille Housing Partnership awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Partnership works to reduce barriers to housing and close housing opportunity gaps by developing and maintaining income-eligible, affordable homes and apartments. Lamoille County

Our House of Central Vermont, Inc. awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Our House of Central Vermont is a children's advocacy center and uses a child-focused approach to bring together resources, conduct interviews, and make team decisions about investigation, treatment, management, and prosecution of child abuse cases. Washington County

Preservation Trust of Vermont awarded $15,000 to support conditions assessments in historic buildings. Preservation Trust of Vermont helps communities keep gathering places alive and encourages the vitality of downtowns and village centers while retaining the integrity of the surrounding rural landscape. Statewide

Rutland Mental Health Services awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The organization is the designated mental health agency in Rutland County, with a mission to enhance the health and well-being of communities, individuals, and families. Rutland County

Stratton Foundation awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Stratton Foundation is a community based non-profit organization that cares about the health and welfare of children and their families in southern Vermont. Windham County

Town of Johnson awarded $7,500 for storm and flood relief efforts in the Johnson area, particularly for dumpsters to facilitate town cleanup. One of the Vermont towns hit hardest by the flooding earlier this month, Johnson lost much of its downtown business and activity district. Situated in Lamoille County, Johnson has a resident population of 3,491. Lamoille County

United Community Church of Morrisville awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The church serves and supports children and families in Morrisville and Lamoille County. Lamoille County

United Way of Lamoille County awarded $20,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. United Way of Lamoille County fosters collective action to address complex challenges in the community and advocates for equitable access to resources. Lamoille County

United Way of Windham County awarded $20,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. It strives to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of community and acts as a community convener, fiscal partner, resource hub, and provider of services. Windham County

Upper Valley Haven awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Upper Valley Haven provides temporary shelter and educational programming to homeless families and adults, as well as food for anyone in need. Windsor County

Vermont Arts & Culture Disaster and Resilience Network awarded $10,000 to support rapid response for arts organizations, and collections and records impacted by flood damage. The Network is a partnership of the Vermont Arts Council, the Vermont State Archives and Records Administration, and the Vermont Emergency Management Association. Coordination through this network enables artists, as well as arts and heritage organizations, to work together to share expertise and resources, mobilize response for mutual assistance during emergencies, and engage collectively with first responders and government emergency management agencies. Statewide

Vermont Foodbank, Inc. awarded $100,000 to support the Foodbank’s grant program to food shelves and food pantries; and to support the Foodbank’s program to provide culturally-relevant crops for New Americans. The Foodbank works to gather and share quality food, and nurture partnerships so that no one in Vermont will go hungry. It is currently working across Vermont to take stock and help communities figure out how to rebuild, and sharing resources with the hardest hit areas of the state. Statewide

Vermont Garden Network awarded $10,000 to support food security efforts in rural communities as part of storm and flood relief. The  Garden Network works to cultivate well-being by helping people of all ages access resources to grow food, build confidence, and connect with each other. Statewide

Vermont Professionals of Color Network awarded $5,000 for outreach and response supporting VTPOC members recovering from storm and flooding losses. The Vermont Professionals of Color Network is the state’s leading organization supporting the professional, networking, and business needs of BIPOC Vermonters. VTPOC Network is conducting outreach, sharing resources, and offering technical assistance to individual and business members in flood affected areas of the state. Statewide

Vermont RELEAF Collective awarded $10,000 to support outreach and technical assistance to BIPOC farmers recovering from storm and flooding losses. The Vermont Releaf Collective stands for racial equity in land, environment, agriculture, and food. From farmers and gardeners to restaurant employees and seed savers, from entrepreneurs and activists to hikers and researchers and more, the network is fostering a collective affinity space and alliance of BIPOC individuals and organizations who are deeply committed to promoting racial equity across its four focus areas: land, environment, agriculture, and foodways. Statewide

Washington County Mental Health Services awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Washington County Mental Health Services is the designated mental health agency in Central Vermont, with a mission to serve people coping with developmental and intellectual disabilities, mental health, and substance use by providing trauma-informed services to support them as they achieve their highest potential and best possible quality of life. Washington County

Waterbury Good Neighbor Fund awarded $5,000 to support funds for individual expenses incurred by clean up and to help with lodging expenses. The Waterbury Good Neighbor Fund is an emergency financial help fund that gives no-strings-attached gifts to individuals and families in the commmunity. Washington County

Winooski Valley Parks District awarded $7,500 to support cleanup efforts as part of storm and flood relief. The Park District plans, acquires, and manages land and water within the boundaries of its member municipalities in the Winooski River Valley for purposes of conservation, preservation of natural areas, establishment of parks, and resource-based education and recreation. Chittenden County

Wolcott Fire Department awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Wolcott Fire Department is a nearly 50-year-old volunteer fire department that serves the 40-square-mile area and 1,670 people living in and around Wolcott, Vermont. Lamoille County

Grants Announced August 9th

Abenaki Helping Abenaki (AHA) awarded $10,000 to provide food assistance and flood relief to flood survivors. AHA works to preserve the culture, community awareness, charitable endeavors, and outreach of the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki People. AHA provides educational resources to meet the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of the Nulhegan Band and other Native American students, supplies community members with healthy food and necessary essentials in times of need, and is committed to educating Nulhegan Band citizens and other Native Americans on traditional, organic, agriculture, and sustainable living. Caledonia & Washington Counties

Ainsworth Public Library awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Ainsworth Public Library serves Williamstown, providing reading materials, technology, and community connection. Orange County

Aldrich Public Library awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts for the York Branch. The Aldrich Public Library serves the city of Barre with reading materials and digital services, as well as additional resources that provide opportunities to patrons and bring the community together. Washington County

All Brains Belong VT awarded $4,000 to support neurodiverse Vermonters impacted by floods in Central Vermont. All Brains Belong VT provides flexible, individualized ways to receive healthcare and connect with community for neurodiverse Vermonters. Washington County

Barre Historical Society awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Barre Historical Society is responsible for the preservation, restoration, maintenance, and adaptive reuse of National Historic Landmark site buildings for the benefit of the community, and education and research related to the history of Barre. Washington County

Barton Area Senior Services (BASSI) awarded $5,000 to replace kitchen equipment and other materials lost in flooding. BASSI is a senior meal site. The Glover site suffered severe damage and is now closed. Orleans County

Bethel Area Food Shelf awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Bethel Area Food Shelf works to help alleviate food insecurity for neighbors in Bethel, Barnard, Stockbridge, and Pittsfield. Windsor County

Black River Action Team awarded $7,500 to support cleanup efforts as part of storm and flood relief. The Black River Action Team is a grassroots watershed organization serving southeastern Vermont. Windsor County

Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation awarded $30,000 to support area businesses affected by flooding in Weston, Londonderry, and surrounding towns. BDCC serves Windham County, Readsboro, Searsburg, Weston, and Winhall by investing in the local and regional economy. Windham County

Calef Memorial Library awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Calef Memorial Library serves Orange and surrounding towns in Washington County with enriching social connection, information, books, technologies, and more. Orange County

Cambridge Area Rotary Foundation awarded $7,500 to support the Cambridge Flood Disaster Fund. The Cambridge Area Rotary serves the community through a range of projects supporting youth and other community members while also contributing to international projects. Lamoille County

Central Vermont Council on Aging awarded $13,500 to provide no-cook meals to seniors in the service area to be used during times that Meals on Wheels cannot be delivered. CVCOA is the leading expert and advocate in healthy aging for Central Vermonters. Washington County

Central Vermont Prevention Coalition awarded $25,000 to support the coordination of post-flood behavioral health services in Central Vermont to respond to urgent and emergent needs. The Central Vermont Prevention Coalition is an interdisciplinary collaborative of more than 30 organizations successfully addressing substance use challenges across Washington County. Washington County

Clemmons Family Farm awarded $7,500 to support the Farm's coordination of the VAADAN Network supporting artists affected by recent storms and flooding. Ethiopian Community Development Council Multicultural Center (ECDC) - Brattleboro awarded $15,000 to provide groceries and other assistance to New American families who lost a food source due to the flooding of a local farm. ECDC helps newcomers resettle in southern Vermont and build safe, sustainable lives. Windsor County

Friends of the Morrill Homestead awarded $4,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Morrill Homestead fosters an awareness of the legacy and accomplishments of Senator Justin Smith Morrill of Strafford, Vermont. Orange County

Green Mountain Farm to School awarded $5,000 to support the organization’s Lunchbox program that serves free meals to youth 18 and under in the Northeast Kingdom. Additional funding will allow for free meals to be offered to adults and help meet a rise in need due to flooding. Green Mountain Farm to School strengthens local food systems in Vermont by promoting positive economic relationships, education, and access between schools, farms, and communities. Orleans County

They wish to open doors and remove the barriers for people seeking treatment, ensuring healthy and sustaining patient recovery. Lamoille County

Johnson Health Center awarded $10,000 to replace essential equipment damaged by floods to allow ongoing operations. Johnson Health Center is a nonprofit practice offering both addiction care and medical care services. Lamoille County

Johnson Public Library awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Johnson Public Library provides books, information, and resources for residents and visitors alike, as well as programming and events to foster a sense of connection among residents. Lamoille County

Journey to Recovery Community Center awarded $5,000 to strengthen programs and services for people in recovery in flood-impacted areas. Journey to Recovery Community Center provides a supportive environment of healing and hope for individuals, families, and communities affected by addiction related to substance use and misuse. Kellogg-Hubbard Library awarded $25,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier serves as the public library for six towns in central Vermont. Washington County

The Kingdom Recovery Center provides free, peer-delivered support and programs for people seeking and sustaining recovery from alcoholism/substance misuse disorder. Caledonia County

Kinhaven Music School awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Kinhaven is a unique residential summer music camp in Weston. Children and adults engage in classical chamber music in a collaborative, non-competitive environment. Windsor County

Middlesex Community Fund awarded $5,000 for the Fund's Flood Relief Grants. The Middlesex Community Fund makes a difference in the lives of people who live and work in Middlesex by responding to individual and community needs. Washington County

Montpelier Alive awarded $5,000 to support mutual aid and volunteer coordination for emergency shelter, basic needs, and flood cleanup in Montpelier. Montpelier Alive works with partners to sustain and build upon Montpelier’s vibrant downtown community by offering and supporting special events and activities, and promoting city businesses. Mosaic Vermont awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Mosaic works throughout Washington County to heal communities and end sexual violence. They support and empower individuals of all genders who have experienced harm to take steps toward healing. Washington County

Neighborhood Connections awarded $20,000 to support emergency assistance for basic needs for flood survivors. Neighborhood Connections promotes the health and well-being of people in Southern Vermont's mountain towns. It is leading coordination of flood response and recovery resources, and providing community meals. Windham County

North Central Vermont Recovery Center awarded $5,000 to strengthen programs and services for people in recovery in flood-impacted areas. North Central Vermont Recovery Center is a safe, welcoming, substance-free environment for individuals and families on their path to lasting recovery from substance use disorder. Lamoille County

North Star Health awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts for the Ludlow Health Center. North Star Health operates the Ludlow Health Center, which provides primary care and other health services in the Ludlow region. Windsor County

People's Health and Wellness Clinic awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The People’s Health & Wellness Clinic has brought free and essential healthcare services to residents of Central Vermont who are uninsured or cannot afford to see a doctor. Washington County

Pivotal Steps awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Pivotal Steps supports people with mental and behavioral health challenges with wraparound supports, therapeutic programs, and other individual needs to find wellness. Windsor County

Plymouth Memory Tree Community Fund awarded $10,000 to support the work of the Fund. Plymouth Memory Tree Community Fund is a grant program for individuals and families in need who reside full-time in the Town of Plymouth, Vermont. Windsor County

Rainbow Bridge Community Center awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Strafford Historical Society preserves the sites, records, objects, and related materials pertaining to the history of the Town of Strafford for educational purposes, and to apply the lessons of history for the betterment of the current affairs of Strafford. Stratton Foundation awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Stratton Foundation is a community-based non-profit organization that cares about the health and welfare of children and their families in southern Vermont. Windham County

Studio Place Arts is a non-profit community visual arts center in historic downtown Barre with a mission to enrich people around the region by making the visual arts accessible to everyone through education, art exhibitions, and contact with working artists. Sustainable Woodstock awarded $7,500 to support outreach to residents of manufactured home parks and restoration of the organization's community garden. Sustainable Woodstock is supporting people whose manufactured homes were impacted by recent flooding and also rebuilding the garden that supplied local food shelves but was swept away in the flood. USCRI Vermont awarded $15,000 to provide groceries, clothing, household items, and cash assistance to New American families who are victims of flooding. USCRI works to protect the rights and address the needs of persons in forced or voluntary migration worldwide, and support their transition to a dignified life. Washington County

Varnum Memorial Library awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Varnum Public Library serves the towns of Cambridge, Waterville, Fletcher, and more by providing reading, audio and visual, and technology resources. Lamoille County

Vermont Disaster Animal Response Team (VDART) awarded $2,000 to support pet sheltering services for those who lost their homes in the Barre area. VDART was mobilized by the Agency of Agriculture to provide pet sheltering services at a co-located American Red Cross shelter in Barre and continue to provide 24/7 support. Washington County

Vermont Granite Museum of Barre awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The purpose of the Museum is to engage, educate, and celebrate the heritage and current accomplishments of Vermont's granite industry. Washington County

Vermont Legal Aid awarded $25,000 to support people affected by flooding, as well as ongoing housing work. Vermont Legal Aid (VLA) advocates on behalf of vulnerable Vermonters, working to address systemic and institutional problems impacting these individuals’ lives. VLA provides civil legal services for Vermonters, including those living in poverty, with a disability, or over the age of 60. They serve anyone who is discriminated against in housing decisions, for example, and others facing challenges related to health care insurance or services, and individuals who need relief from abuse. Statewide County

Vermont Professionals of Color Network awarded $5,000 for outreach and response supporting VTPOC members recovering from storm and flooding losses. The Vermont Professionals of Color Network is the state’s leading organization supporting the professional, networking, and business needs of BIPOC Vermonters. VTPOC Network is conducting outreach, sharing resources, and offering technical assistance to individual and business members in flood-affected areas of the state. Statewide County

Vermont Releaf Collective awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts to support affected Network members. The VT Releaf Collective is a network by and for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color advancing racial equity in land, environment, agriculture, and foodways. Statewide

Vermont River Conservancy, Inc. awarded $7,500 for storm and flood relief efforts. The VRC engages communities to protect and restore Vermont rivers for youth, communities, wildlife, and all citizens. Washington County

Vermont Studio Center awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Located in Johnson, the mission of the Vermont Studio Center is to provide studio residencies in an inclusive, international community, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form. Lamoille County

Wallingford Community Thrift Shop awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Thrift Shop is comprised of a group of volunteers dedicated to helping Wallingford and the surrounding areas with basic household needs. Rutland County

Weston Playhouse Theatre Company awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Weston Theater Company presents beautiful, entertaining stories performed by talented artists from the community and afar. Windsor County

White River Partnership awarded $7,500 for storm and flood relief efforts. The WRP is a membership organization concerned about the long-term health of the White River and its watershed. Windsor County

Windsor County Youth Services awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. Windsor County Youth Services offers stability for teens in need by providing a safe place to sleep, meals, counseling, tutoring, and personal attention. Windsor County

Winooski Parents & Students Project (WPS) awarded $5,000 to provide emergency food and goods for flood survivors. The Winooski Parents & Students Project (WPS) is a grassroots organization serving New Americans around the state—promoting safe, healthy, and sustainable lives. Washington County

Woodstock Area Council on Aging/The Thompson Senior Center awarded $5,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Thompson Senior Center helps older adults to age well in the rural communities in and around Woodstock. Windsor County

Woodstock Community Trust awarded $20,000 to support the storm and flood relief efforts of the Woodstock Hub. Woodstock Community Trust is a non-profit umbrella organization that empowers teams to carry out local projects to improve the quality of life and respond to needs in the community. Windsor County

Addison County Home Health and Hospice awarded $2,500 to respond to individuals' needs as a result of storms and flooding. In collaboration with patients, families, and other community providers, the organization enhances the health, dignity, and independence of Addison County residents through patient-centered home health and hospice care. Addison County

Addison County Relocalization Network (ACORN) awarded $10,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. ACORN promotes the growth and health of local food and agriculture in Vermont’s Champlain Valley by providing support to farmers and food producers and ensuring access to healthy food for all members of the community. Addison County

American Red Cross - Vermont Chapter awarded $100,000 for storm and flood relief efforts. The Red Cross provides shelter, food, disaster coordination, and up-to-date information during emergencies. Statewide

Barre Historical Society awarded $10,000 to support flood repair and recovery, and resumption of programming. The organization is responsible for the preservation, restoration, maintenance, and adaptive reuse of National Historic Landmark site buildings, and education and research related to the site and history of Barre, VT. Washington County

Bennington County Conservation District (BCCD) awarded $5,000 to support the first annual BCCD Community Resilience Forum. The mission of BCCD is to promote responsible stewardship of natural resources, enhance the rural economy, advocate for sustainable practices, and engage the community in environmental conservation. Bennington County

Black River Good Neighbor Services (BRGN) awarded $60,000 to support grants to individuals and families impacted by flooding. Through a thrift store, food pantry, and free services, BRGN works to empower those in Ludlow and surrounding communities who are underserved in the community. Windsor County

Cavendish Baptist Church awarded $5,000 to support emergency shelter for Cavendish residents and volunteer workers from out of state, as well as individual assistance to flood survivors. The church, with more than 200 years of history, serves the Cavendish and surrounding communities with love and community connection. Windsor County

Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation (CVEDC) awarded $7,500 to support business owners recovering from flooding through the Flood Recovery Business Support Center in Montpelier. CVEDC is providing in-person, flood-related business assistance daily in downtown Montpelier, including help with grant and loan applications, understanding resources, and navigating next steps. Washington County

Central Vermont Prevention Coalition awarded $15,000 to support a short-term Flood Relief Navigator in Central Vermont to respond to urgent and emergent behavioral health needs. The coalition is a collaborative of more than 30 organizations successfully addressing substance use challenges across Washington County. Washington County

Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) awarded $100,000 to support the CVOEO Mobile Home Program to provide case management for flood-affected mobile home park residents. The organization addresses economic, social, racial, and environmental justice and provides crisis support such as such as food, fuel, and housing assistance, along with education and training for future economic independence. Statewide

Community of Vermont Elders (COVE) awarded $5,000 to support an increase in available resources, advocacy, and support to vulnerable older adults who are victims of flooding and targeted scams and fraud. COVE promotes and protects a higher quality of life for the state’s older Vermonters. Washington County

Coventry Town Foundation awarded $2,500 to support members of the Coventry community affected by flooding. The foundation supports education, community assistance, emergency disaster relief, historic preservation, and other community-based services. Orleans County

Kellogg-Hubbard Library awarded $10,000 to support flood repair and recovery, and resumption of programming. The library in Montpelier serves six towns in central Vermont. Washington County

Lamoille County Mental Health Services awarded $75,000 to support crisis counseling, mental health case management, and housing contingency funding for flood survivors with mental health challenges. The mental health agency provides developmental and behavioral health services that enhance independence and quality of life. Lamoille County

Lost Nation Theater awarded $10,000 to support flood repair and recovery, and resumption of programming. The theater provides year-round programming, including dramas, comedies, and musicals. Washington County

Middlebury Fire Department awarded $5,000 to support needed repairs for swift water rescue equipment for future response efforts. Middlebury Fire and Swift Water Rescue are local volunteers trained to respond effectively and safely to incidents in the pursuit of protecting life, property, and the environment. They provided many hours of swift water rescue services during the July floods. Addison County

Vermont Journalism Trust awarded $50,000 to support VTDigger's coverage of flood impact, response, and recovery in Vermont. VTDigger, a project of the nonprofit Vermont Journalism Trust, is an essential news organization in Vermont. Statewide

Vermont Legal Aid (VLA) awarded $100,000 to provide legal services, outreach, and education to Vermonters who have legal needs arising out of the flooding in the summer of 2023. VLA provides civil legal services for Vermonters, including those living in poverty, with a disability, or over the age of 60. It serves anyone who is discriminated against in housing decisions and others facing challenges related to health care insurance or services, and individuals who need relief from abuse. Statewide

Vermont Recovery Network awarded $65,321 to support psychological first aid training and disaster planning for all recovery center staff. The network supports its member recovery organizations so they can empower all Vermonters and their families who are in recovery from alcohol or other substance use disorders. Statewide

Vermont Studio Center awarded $10,000 to support flood repair and recovery, and resumption of programming. Located in Johnson, the organization’s mission is to provide studio residencies in an inclusive, international community, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form. Lamoille County

Washington County Mental Health Services awarded $75,000 to support crisis counseling; mental health case management; and housing contingency funding for flood survivors with mental health challenges. The organization is the designated mental health agency in Central Vermont, with a mission to serve people coping with developmental and intellectual disabilities, mental health, and substance use by providing trauma-informed services to support them as they achieve their highest potential and best possible quality of life. Washington County

Waterbury Good Neighbor Fund awarded $30,000 to support grants to individuals and families impacted by flooding. The fund provides emergency financial help through no-strings-attached gifts to individuals and families in the community. Washington County

Weston Community Association awarded $10,000 to support flood repair and recovery, and resumption of programming. The association owns and operates the Weston Playhouse and supports the performing arts in the region. Windsor County

Weston Playhouse Theatre Company awarded $10,000 to support flood repair and recovery, and resumption of programming. The Weston Theater Company presents beautiful, entertaining stories performed by talented artists from the community and from afar. Windsor County

Woodstock Community Trust awarded $70,000 to support grants to individuals and families impacted by flooding through the Woodstock HUB. The trust is a nonprofit umbrella organization that empowers teams to carry out local projects to improve the quality of life and respond to needs in the community. Windsor County

In addition to the grants listed above, the VT Flood Response & Recovery Fund 2023 is supporting storm and flood-related requests through the Foundation’s Special and Urgent Needs (SUN) grant program. SUN has temporarily modified its guidelines to support urgent nonprofit needs related to this disaster.
